Description

Come celebrate the launch of Tails 1.0 with NDI and the Tor Project, an important development milestone for the Tails project.

What is Tails?

Tails is a live operating system that you can start on almost any computer from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card. It aims at preserving your privacy and anonymity, and helps you to:

  • use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship;
    all connections to the Internet are forced to go through the Tor network;
  • leave no trace on the computer you are using unless you ask it explicitly;
  • use state-of-the-art cryptographic tools to encrypt your files, emails and instant messaging.

Attendees will learn more about how tools like Tails can better secure the communications of activists under threat of censorship and surveillance worldwide, and how to use Tails on their own computers.

More about Tails can be found here: https://tails.boum.org/

Panel

This event will also feature remarks from Lindsay Beck, Program Officer at NDItech, Karen Reilly, Development Director at the Tor Project, and Runa Sandvik, staff technologist at the Center for Technology and Democracy, about the importance of technologies like Tails to secure the communications of activists worldwide.
